Had a chance this afternoon to get an x ray before seeing the leg specialist.
Xray confirmed that I had no break at all. But...
The leg Dr pressed his finger on the pain spot and I grimaced in pain.
I said did you press the muscle, he said no the bone.
He said 100% certain that I have a stress fracture but to confirm it I am booked for an MRI on thursday.
I also have an appointment with a Dr who is a sports physician who I happened to go to school with years ago. He is going to help with getting me back out on the track as soon as possible without the pain.
So if anyone wants a copy I will soon have an ultrasound, xray and an MRI of my lower leg.
When Buck Rogers gets here in the 25th century can we do all these at once, please.
So no city to surf for me this year. I want to keep running long term so I am not prepared to gamble with my legs for one race.
I may get to the Lake half but I doubt it. More likely late September after my altitude training camp at Mt Hutt(NZ) skiing and golfing.
I'll be joining Mr Dark and the guide dogs at the finish cheering for Striders and Cool Runners of course.

mate, I'm gutted. Really horrible news pal, you made the right call not running on Sunday though, let it heal up and come back stronger. See you at the end, but sorry I won't see you out on the course! p.s take up cycling :)

Sorry to hear the news Superflake. After all the hard work you've put in, it is a shame but there will be plenty of City 2 Surfs in the future. At least you got the result quicker than gnscon.

My son reminded me that Action ran last year with a 'stressie', so why can't you?
Just get a half-dozen or so chop-sticks and strap 'em to your leg with a load of sticky-tape; that should do the trick.
Failing that, I will send you a box of Kleenex, a cute little pink 'get well soon' card, and a new running skirt to match the CR 'big girls blouse' which you should undoubtedly be awarded.
You probably drink drinks with tinyumbrellas in them as well.

I'm sorry you weren't able to run but it was great to see you on Sunday. Thank you so much for the cheering - I was counting down the kms until we saw you guys. It certainly made Campbell Parade feel a lot easier! J.
That's really bad news Super! I'm sorry to hear it. A stress fracture to the heel knocked out for 10 weeks in 2003. It was very painful. My sympahties Superflake. Just do as the Doc says is by far the best way to get back on track.
