Recovery Run 12.3ks

Into Centennial Park with it pretty windy tonight.
Legs feeling pretty sore after the half yesterday so stuck to the grass most of the way.

Ran 12.3ks in 67:37. Average pace of 5:29 per klm. Took it very easy tonight.

Bit of a pain having the time on my watch at the lake half which I started and stopped by the gun and the finish line read 86:43 and then get given officially 86:57.
I guess the wheel chair guy at the start meant they took time off. We were told it would be 1 min, but that obviously was wrong.

Oh well, must run faster at Sydney Half then.

And Tesso the Striders all time lists only use the race websites gun times as PB's.
All fair I think, just get up the front and push hard for the PB.

We all know what you ran!

Bit of a drag having official times that are inconsistent with actual times.

Noosa Half is champion-chipped but only at the finish. The start is the gun time. So when it takes you 60sec to cross the start line you feel a bit behind the 8-ball already.

So onto SMH for a crack at 86:30...

Hi Pauline!

Hasn't there been some lovely comments posted on your little bloggy about your running lately:)

Everyone is just oh-so-nice and polite.

Well here's BD's mum with a reality check, to examine recent events a little closer.

'Sub-55 at C2S' ............ FAIL!
Beat BD's PB at Lake Macq... FAIL!

Wow, the report card doesn't look too flash in the hard light of day.

At this rate, you may have to repeat a year.

By the way, I don't want to pressure you at all, but I see you are going to North Head next week.

Little BD ran 37:42 there in this race last year.

Good luck!

Jeepers we can't stand that smart-mouth 'Blue Dog's Mum.'

Paul we just wanted you to know that we think you are running beautifully at present.

Regular Pb's like you have been achieving lately are a fitting reward for all your hard effort.

If we could, we would congratulate you personally. In lieu of that, please accept our admiration on this blog.

You certainly have shown that you are a tough hombre (that's a Mexican word meaning 'man,' and let's face it, who doesn't love a good Mexican man now and then?)by backing up for a half marathon only two weeks after doing the full City to Surf Marathon!

Good luck Superflake, you rock!

Yeah, I hate that official vs watch time thing.

I know at official races even when there are timing mats they only work off gun time for winners and placegetters overall and in age categories.

For the big races I try to self seed and then start my watch when I hit the start line and not when the gun goes. That's really just so I know exactly how long it took me to run the distance.

You can only go by official times.

Road races are 'officially' rounded up to the nearest whole second. I only find this annoying if the printout on the timer clock says 39:59.03 for a 10k race!
